Hi everyone,
Yesterday I got a Siamese fighting fish which are sometimes known as Betta-fish.

They usually grow to an overall length of about 5cm. Although known for their brilliant colours and large, flowing fins, the natural coloration of Siamese Fighting Fish (B. splendens) is a dull green and brown, and the fins of wild specimens are relatively short. Brilliantly coloured and longer finned varieties (i.e. Veiltail; Delta; Superdelta; and Halfmoon) have been developed through selective breeding.
When properly kept and fed a correct diet, they live approximately 2–5 years in captivity. This fish is a member of the gourami family (family Osphronemidae) of order Perciformes, but was formerly classified among the Anabantidae. Although there are nearly 50 other members of the Bettagenus, B. splendens is one of the most popular species among hobbyists.
'til next time,
Aaron

Hi Aaron,
I have had many Bettas or Siamese fighting Fish over the years. When my son was little he named one Bubbles because of how they try to build bubble nests. The last one I had was either Bubbles the 13th or 14th. We actually lost track--LOL!
Enjoy Arnie! He's a fine looking fellow. :)
Oh, and by the way--the females are still bland and brown with short fins. ;)
